How It Works

Half of mental health challenges show up by age 14.
But it takes another 10+ years until most people access help.
For men and boys, it often takes even longer ...if help comes at all.
For Black and Brown young men, deeply entrenched racism further blocks their access to help.

The devastating consequences...

Men are3.6 timesmore likely to die from suicide.
Approximately 80% of deaths from suicide in the U.S. are men.

Why?

If so many are hurting, why aren't they getting the help they need? There are a lot of reasons, but stigma plays a big role for young men. Traditional gender roles give boys fewer tools to identify how they feel and to cope with stressors, especially during adolescence.

Introducing Team: Changing Minds

Team: Changing Minds is a national network of mental health responders dedicated to helping young people, and especially young men, connect to support. We activate the trusted peers and adults in young people’s lives, who are active in pastimes they love (like video games, mentoring, and sports) – ensuring help is just a click, call, or connection away.
